In an effort to continue to be leaders in player development initiatives for our members, SEMI Hockey is pleased to announce MGD Goalie Development as its preferred provider of goaltending instruction.

SEMI has had a long-standing partnership with MGD, and its principal owner Angelo Maggio. MGD has worked with SEMI hockey teams as goalie coaches, led clinics and camps, and provided 1 on 1 and small group instruction with our goaltenders.


SEMI Hockey will continue to engage MGD in the following development initiatives:


  • Novice level weekly goalie clinics – free clinics for younger athletes getting started with the position
  • Atom level weekly goalie clinics – Free clinics for both rep and C div goalies to develop
  • Pee Wee + goalie clinics – Regularly scheduled clinics to continue development
  • Summer Hockey Camp – MGD will provide instruction in the SEMI Hockey Summer Camp in late August
  • Rep team goalie development – MGD will be preferred provider of coaching services at Rep team practices
  • MGD will provide goaltending instruction at the SEMI Hockey led EMS Secondary Hockey Academy
  • Discounted access to MGD Real Ice training facility sessions – SEMI goalies will receive discounted rates and exclusive access to MGD hosted clinics and instructional sessions.
  • MGD Hockey will present at SEMI Hockey coaching seminar to teach SEMI coaches the finer points of working with goalies on their teams.
  • Develop and oversee the operational aspects of the Association’s ongoing goaltender feedback and evaluation process

About MGD

Angelo Maggio has over 40 years of goaltending instruction experience. He has been a goalie consultant for several junior hockey clubs, pro teams, schools and minor hockey associations. Angelo believes that all goalies should strive to be the best they can be by formulating and attaining a balance between the technical, physical and mental aspects of the game. A key facilitative dimension to attaining this balance is the motivation of the athlete, helping him/her to construct personal criteria of success.
