2021 SEMI Hockey Scholarship Awards
Elleka Jope awarded Jack Waterfield Scholarship
SEMI Hockey held its 2021 scholarship award ceremony virtually on June 16th, 2021. This season we awarded $500 SEMI Hockey graduating player scholarships to 12 outstanding graduates.
The award criteria combines academic success, community involvement and hockey contributions, and all of these student-athletes had very impressive resumes in all of these areas.
The 12 Scholarship winners for 2021 are:
Justin Grant (also awarded PCAHA Scholarship)
Nolan McAdam
Jacob Dobson
Owen Scott
Matthew Taylor
Ethan Lynn
Garrett Kidd
Elleka Jope (also awarded PCAHA Scholarship)
Stephan Dudra
Scott Morrison
Quinn Giuricich
Justin Aldus
Each season SEMI awards an additional $1000 award for an outstanding candidate. The Waterfield Scholarship is named in honour of Jack Waterfield, who contributed so much time to SEMI Hockey as a volunteer coach and manager, and along with his family enriched the lives of countless kids through their service to our hockey community.
We were fortunate to have Jack’s daughter Cathy Frith speak to the graduates and make the award presentation. Cathy spoke eloquently about the character traits of her father and how this year’s award winner embodied the “Heart” that Jack brought to SEMI Hockey. We are all proud to announce Elleka Jope as the 2021 Waterfield Scholarship Award winner. Congratulations Elleka, and best of luck to all grads in their future pursuits. We hope that you will take a little bit of SEMI Hockey with you wherever you go and make the world a better place.
