Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey Announcement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 2nd, 2022 SEMIAHMOO RAVENS HOCKEY ANNOUNCEMENT Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey announce that our Executive Director, Dave Newson, is making a career move and leaving his current role effective June 30, 2022, to become Chief Executive Officer of BC Rugby.Over his 8-year tenure as Executive Director, Dave continually sought to innovate, both on and off the ice.  Under his leadership, Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey was awarded the PCAHA minor hockey association of the year in 2020, recognizing the organization’s on and off ice success.  In 2021, Dave was presented a PCAHA award for his significant contributions to the PCAHA during the COVID-19 pandemic as he was a key player in the navigation of return-to-play efforts with other local associations. Dave had this to say about his experience with the Semiahmoo Ravens organization:

“I have really enjoyed my time at Semiahmoo. Working with our players, coaches, great staff, a dedicated group of volunteers, and a supportive Board of Directors, we have had tremendous success and a positive impact on hundreds of families. I am very proud of what we have built together. I will continue to be a member of the Semiahmoo community and I’m confident that the success of the organization will continue

Dave has agreed to continue to assist Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey in an advisory role for several months so that the organization can ensure a smooth transition to new leadership.Ravens President Jim Barron stated, “I want to sincerely thank Dave for his passion and dedication to our Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey organization and the contributions he’s made to the broader BC hockey community.  We are grateful for everything Dave has done for the Ravens during his tenure, and we wish him every success in the future.  Our search for new leadership is underway.”
