INNOVATIVE programming changes to u18

The Semiahmoo Ravens are excited to announce some innovative programming changes to the U18 Rep Programs for the 2025-26 season.

The Ravens’ U18 Rep division will offer two High-Performance teams, a U18A1 (Senior) team and a U17 Development team.

The U18A1 team will be a competitive team open to all 2010-2008 born players and goalies and will compete in PCAHA as a tier 1 team.

The U17 team will be limited to motivated 2010-born players and a small number of 2009-born players that will compete in a new PCAHA U17 division versus their peers.

Both programs are designed for the player who sees a pathway to post-secondary hockey opportunities and is prepared to invest the time and commitment to reach for it.

Players who value their academics and prefer to stay in and contribute to their local community

Players who are prepared to take advantage of the existing hockey partnerships in our community at the Zone and Junior A level, and follow a local pathway to continue hockey beyond high school.

Both programs will be integrated into a partnership with the White Rock Whalers, allowing for a merging of coaching and skill development resources as well as opportunities for player progress through affiliate player pathways.

Semiahmoo has sourced enthusiastic head coaches who are excited about the opportunity to build a program that focuses on player development and creating an atmosphere that is challenging and provides accountability for players who are ready to invest in their hockey future.

U17 Development Team Head Coach – Bryan Sharp – A former goaltender and graduate of the University of Denver, Bryan brings collegiate playing and coaching experience, including time as Assistant Coach and Team President of DU’s ACHA II program. He’s also a long-time Head Instructor with Gold in the Net, where he’s helped goalies advance to junior and college hockey. Now back in the Lower Mainland, Bryan is excited to build a competitive, development-focused U17 team and share his college hockey experience and connections with Semiahmoo athletes.

U18A1 Team Head Coach – Greg Van Unen – Greg moves from the Ravens’ U15 program to U18. He is a 20-year Police member specializing in Gangs and Drugs and has worked as a team member on many high-profile files with integrated units. Greg brings experience in mental health and trauma, and assisting/consulting in helping individuals, groups, businesses, and teams. He has previous coaching experience in junior hockey and has coached at different levels with Semiahmoo going back to 2015. He is excited about setting the culture and standards for success at Semiahmoo at the U18 level.

Registration is now open. Please register for the U18 division and select rep tryouts.

Greater detail on the evaluation format will be released in the next few weeks.
