RAVENS PARTNER WITH EAGLES, CHIEFS, BCHL, WHALERS AND THE SEMIAHMOO FIRST NATION FOR NATIONAL TRUTH & RECONCILIATION DAY
Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 (White Rock, British Columbia) – The Semiahmoo Ravens are pleased to announce that it has partnered with the Surrey Eagles, Chilliwack Chiefs, BC Hockey League, White Rock Whalers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League, and the Semiahmoo First Nation to recognize National Truth and Reconciliation Day and raise money for residential school survivors.
On September 30th the Surrey Eagles will host the Chilliwack Chiefs at South Surrey Arena (7:00pm), and the following day, the White Rock Whalers host the Delta Ice Hawks at Centennial Arena (7:30pm). The Eagles, Chiefs and Whaler squads will all be wearing jerseys featuring the Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey third jersey logo; a hand drawn and designed raven by Semiahmoo First Nation artist Roxanne Charles. Game jerseys are up for auction and available for advance bidding HERE.
Winners, if in attendance, will have the opportunity to be presented with their jerseys on the ice following each game. All proceeds will benefit the Indian Residential School Survivor Society.
“In the essence of reconciliation, acknowledging and honouring of Semiahmoo First Nation, I am very pleased to embark on this relationship with Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey” said Harley Chappell, Chief, Semiahmoo First Nation.
“This is a great initiative to help recognize and honour residential school survivors and we are excited to be able to partner with the Semiahmoo First Nation and four great hockey organizations within our community to create awareness and raise money for an important cause,” stated Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey Executive Director, Scott Ackles. “The BC Hockey League and the teams involved jumped on board immediately and were excited to work together on such a great initiative.”
The auction will go live online this Friday, September 16th, 2022, at 9:00am and will feature these unique and custom game worn jerseys from players who are currently named on the Eagles, Chiefs and Whalers 2022-23 season rosters. The remaining jerseys will be added as players are named to the team in advance of the games. The Semiahmoo Ravens are still looking for two corporate partners to support the event by sponsoring the cost of the jerseys the players will be wearing.
