2025/2026 Rep Coaches Announcements
Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey Director Dave Newson is pleased to announce Head Coaches for a number of Ravens’ Rep teams for the 2025-26 season.
Shane Kuss and Matt Erhart will continue to work with our coaching staff and skill providers to ensure consistency throughout our programs. Joining them will be a very skilled group of coaches with years of playing and coaching experience.
Coached by Shane Kuss, the Ravens U11 A1 team continues to be the top program in the province. In 2024, they took on the challenge of playing primarily in the U13 division and competed very well against older players. This squad will look to continue its strong development record this upcoming season.
Our U13 A1 team will once again be coached by Matt Erhart. Last season's program continued its level of excellence, falling just short of defending its BC Hockey Provincial Championship. Once again, the team was one of two BC teams representing the province at the Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament in February.
The Ravens’ U11 A2 & U13 A2 teams will be coached by Jason Oliver and supported by his son, Chace Oliver, as Assistant Coach.
Jason led the U13A2 team to a remarkable season. The team competed all season in the top flight of the PCAHA alongside the A1 team. In the playoffs, they were crowned the PCAHA champions and competed at the BC Hockey Championships. Jason’s U11A2 team competed in Flight 1, alongside all A1 teams.
The U11A3 coach will be David Rutherford. Dave is a well-respected skill development professional and will be one of the coaches with the local White Rock Whalers program as well.
Noel Macri returns to lead the U13A3 team after a successful season last year capped by a PCAHA Final 4 appearance.
The U15 A1 team will be coached by returning coach Keenan Scardina. Keenan aims to enhance the experience in the U15 division with a Prep-style program. He is joined by assistant coaches Troy and Ty Paterson. Three proud Ravens alumni bringing passion and enthusiasm to the bench.
The U18 Rep division sees a major overhaul and some exciting new programming goals. Semiahmoo will offer a U18A1 team and a new U17 team to compete in a separate PCAHA U17 division with programming focused on the first-year players in the division.
Greg Van Unen will be tasked with leading the U18A1 team. Greg moves from the Ravens’ U15 program to U18. He is a 20-year Police member specializing in Gangs and Drugs and has worked as a team member on many high-profile files with integrated units. Greg brings experience in mental health and trauma, and assisting/consulting in helping individuals, groups, businesses, and teams. He has previous coaching experience in junior hockey and has coached at different levels with Semiahmoo going back to 2015. He is excited about setting the culture and standards for success at Semiahmoo at the U18 level.
The new U17 program will be led by Bryan Sharp. A former goaltender and graduate of the University of Denver, Bryan brings collegiate playing and coaching experience, including time as Assistant Coach and Team President of DU’s ACHA II program. He’s also a long-time Head Instructor with Gold in the Net, where he’s helped goalies advance to junior and college hockey. Now back in the Lower Mainland, Bryan is excited to build a competitive, development-focused U17 team and share his college hockey experience and connections with Semiahmoo athletes.
