RAVENS ANNOUNCE NEW GOALTENDING DEVELOPMENT PROVIDER-STAGE ONE GOALTENDING

White Rock / South Surrey (THURSDAY, July 6 ) Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey is excited to announce a new goaltending development provider to support our goaltending program in 2023 and beyond.  As we move into the next hockey season, we continue to strengthen our player development program with our commitment and partnership with SK Hockey.  Finding a goaltending development provider like Stage One Goaltending, who is able to provide this same level of service for this specialized group of players is another piece that we have added in order to continually improve and provide our association members with high quality training and an exceptional hockey experience.

Harry Fredeman, Founder and Head Coach at Stage One Goaltending had this message for us:

To all Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey Goalie families:

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with an established Minor Hockey Association that places so much emphasis on their development process, not only with their top performers, but at the grassroots levels as well.  We are honored to be a part of that process moving forward, and to have the chance to explore the areas of our position that most of these goaltenders have likely not yet touched on.

At Stage One Goaltending we pay particular attention to three different components of the position: (1) Mental, (2) Physical, (3) Emotional.  We firmly believe that the mental and emotional elements make up 90% of the position, but most goaltending development and training plans only focus on the physical aspects of stopping the puck.  During the 2023/24 season, we will be introducing varying degrees of mental and emotional tactics for Semiahmoo Ravens goaltenders to begin both acknowledging their fears and anxieties, and finding solutions to counter them on the ice as well.

Throughout the in-season goaltending development training, whether it be during team practices, synthetic-ice lessons, camps/groups etc, goaltenders will be introduced to our development model and process.  Our process differs from most in the sense that goaltenders will learn a variety of situational tactics and strategies forming from common threat areas around the neutral and defensive zones (age/level appropriate).

We strive to make your child’s training experience with us not only a positive one, but also based on a close-knit coach-student relationship.  We look forward to working with you all, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
